On June 1, a symbolic ceremony was held at the Passenger Terminal 3 of Władysław Reymont International Airport in Łódź. The contract for expansion of the airport was implemented by a consortium with HOCHTIEF Polska and HOCHTIEF Solutions.
The scope of works included all construction works and supply of the necessary materials and equipment, except of a baggage handling system (BHS) as well as of FIS, FIDS and DCS airport systems, which were provided by the companies operating on investor’s demand. The new terminal hall includes three usable above-ground storeys, as well as a technical storey, an entresol and an underground level. With above 9,000 square metres of the designed base area, the terminal has a total area of 28,000 square metres. In addition to the premises allocated for passenger handling, the terminal also consists of a luggage sorting facility, a car park and a flight control tower for services coordinating traffic at the airport. Terminal 3 is expected to be serving more than 1,5 million passengers every year.
