The consortium of HOCHTIEF Polska and HOCHTIEF Solutions AG has completed the work related to the reconstruction and modernization of Terminal 1, and its integration with T2 at Chopin Airport in Warsaw. As part of the investment, a facility of 60 000 sq m has been erected (currently called Terminal A). The construction was preceded by a comprehensive demolition of Terminal T1. In the framework of the implementation of the project, the consortium has also built a 60 metre long tunnel connecting the terminal to the Fast City Rail (SKM), which has also provided a baggage handling system (BHS). The rebuilt terminal has created an integrated whole in terms of architectural, technical and functional scopes. In the reconstructed terminal there are 48 check-in desks, airline offices and cash desks, travel agencies, car rentals, and nine additional security check points. At the new terminal, two Executive Lounges, a room of prayer and meditation for different religions, a medical and service facilities, as well as restaurants, coffee shops and a bank have been foreseen. The passengers will be able to do shopping at 15 new stores with a total area of nearly 3 000 sq m. A viewing balcony for the disabled has been created as part of the investment. On the terminal roof, photovoltaic cells with the total area of 7 000 sq m have been installed. The modernized Chopin Airport Terminal 1 will be at the disposal of travellers on May 21. 
 
The facility has been built in the place of a passenger terminal, built by HOCHTIEF within 1990-1992. It was the first order implemented by HOCHTIEF in Poland. In the summer of 2011, the subsidiaries of HOCHTIEF completed the expansion of Chopin Airport in Warsaw, which included the construction of the central pier and finalizing the construction of the south pier of the Terminal.
