Description: The building of Museum of the Second World War has six underground levels and seven overground levels. There are located exhibition halls, lecture halls, conference rooms, cinema, library, archives and storages for exhibits. Moreover in the building there are: social facilities with restaurant and cloakrooms, hotel rooms, offices and underground garage. The characteristic part of the building is an inclined, partly trained, tower of 40 meters high.
Awards:
– The building was named Construction of the year 2016 – the title awarded by the Polish Association of Construction Engineers and Technicians (PZiTB) in the category of individually assessed buildings.
– In 2017 the Museum of the Second World War in Gdansk was awarded with the “Pomorski Sztorm” (eng. “Pomeranian Storm”) as The Investment of the Year. The award was given by the readers of “Gazeta Wyborcza Trojmiasto” newspaper.
– Property Design Award 2018 in the category “Shell – public buildings”.
– Special award in the contest for The Best Architectural Project in Gdansk 2016-2017, organised by the Mayor of the City of Gdansk and the Polish Association of Architects (SARP) branch Wybrzeze.
– 1st award in the 22nd edition of the „Polish Cement in Architecture” contest, organized by the Polish Association of Architects (SARP) and the Polish Cement Association (2018). The award is given to the best projects, built with reinforced concrete technology.
– Title and statuette TOPBuilder 2019 for execution of Museum of the Second World War in Gdansk.
